Verizon Business Expands Remote IP Application Management Service to Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific
Customers can Cost-Effectively Outsource Application Management Based on Individual Needs

By: PR Newswire
Nov. 8, 2006 03:16 PM

BASKING RIDGE, N.J., Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Business today announced the global availability of its Remote Internet Protocol (IP) Application Management Service. This custom service allows customers to cost-effectively outsource all or some of the monitoring and management of their business-critical applications.

The Verizon Business Remote IP Application Management Service remotely monitors customers' applications, infrastructure and server operating systems across multiple locations and can be specifically tailored to each customer's unique technical and business requirements. As a result, customers can control costs while helping to improve performance in their business critical infrastructure. As with other managed offerings, the service enables companies to focus on their core business and customer service, while acquiring the ability to rapidly respond to changing business conditions.

Verizon Business offers customers in-depth assessment and consulting, providing strategy, design and implementation expertise across all technology layers. The service is supported by customised service level agreements (SLAs) that can include metrics for customer-facing operations as well as on their applications and infrastructure elements such as network support.

Whether customers house their business-critical servers at their own location, a third-party data center or in one of Verizon's own data centers, the highly flexible service enables customers to choose the technology, location and support option that's right for them, while maintaining their investment in existing infrastructure.

"As companies transition to an IP environment, they are looking to identify higher-value services to help them better manage their IP infrastructure," said Mike Palmer, general manager of remote application management, Verizon Business. "Our Remote IP Application Management Service helps companies to overcome the challenges associated with managing IP-based IT systems, and is particularly useful for globally dispersed, multinational companies. Rather than worry about critical underlying infrastructure issues, Verizon Business is empowering organizations to take advantage of the power of IP through customized management of their infrastructure."

About Verizon Business Remote IP Application Management

Verizon Business' Remote IP Application Management Service enables customers to:

* Design their service and network infrastructure, using standardised architecture patterns and quantitative sizing tools. * Manage hardware and software deployment, from provisioning the base operating system and applications through to final failover testing, stress testing, and system production launch. * Establish and manage performance criteria to monitor the capacity, reliability and manageability of the entire application infrastructure, helping to ensure that applications are available for critical business processes.

The service also offers customers a full suite of monitoring, management, security, back-up and recovery tools to help identify and remedy performance problems. This helps businesses control expensive productivity and customer losses.

The Verizon Business Remote IP Application Management Service is available immediately across Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific regions where Verizon Business services are sold. The service was initially rolled out in the U.S. in late 2005.
