MONTVALE, NJ-- May 13, 2002 -- SYS-CON Events, Inc. (www.sys-con.com), headquartered in Montvale, New Jersey, presented today in San Francisco the fourth stop of their Web Services Edge World Tour, SYS-CON's popular one-day tutorial series, to a sold-out audience. The series was organized in response to developers' eagerness to plan ahead for SYS-CON's Web Services Edge 2002 East and West - International Web Services Conference & Expos, which will take place June 24-27 in New York and October 1-3 in San Jose (www.sys-con.com/WebServicesEdge2002East).
The first four cities of the Web Services Edge World Tour tutorial series entitled "Developing SOAP Web Services," are exclusively sponsored by Systinet Corporation (www.sys-con.com/education). The tutorial curriculum is designed to equip professional developers with all the tools and information they need to immediately begin creating, deploying, and using their own Web services. Upon completion of the program, expert practitioners will be able to take an applied approach, and cover base technologies such as SOAP, WSDL, UDDI, and XML, as well as more advanced topics such as security, J2EE integration, exposing legacy systems, and integrating Web services into an existing IT infrastructure.
The attendees of today's event received free copies of all the software used during the tutorial to create example Web Services as well as $100 discount certificates to register for this year's Web Services Edge 2002 East or West International Web Services Conference & Expos. Today's attendees in San Francisco also received one year complimentary subscriptions to Web Services Journal, Java Developer's Journal and XML-Journal, an additional $250 value from SYS-CON Media.
Due to an overwhelming interest in today's event in San Francisco, SYS-CON Events increased the originally planned single-session program into four simultaneous sessions of which two were presented by Oracle, focusing on the topic of "Architecting J2EE Web Services."
"In a recently published poll, over 65% of i-Technology managers reported that they plan to use Web services in the next year, rising to over 85% over the next two years," said Anne Thomas Manes, Systinet CTO and the featured presenter of today's tutorial. "There's enormous demand for practical how-to information and tools to help developers exploit the potential of Web services."
"This program is an extension of our commitment to the i-Technology professionals who are the readers of our Web Services Journal, Java Developer's Journal, and XML-Journal and the attendees of our annual international conferences and expos," said Cathy Walters, vice president in charge of SYS-CON Events. "This tutorial series provides essential face-to-face educational venues for i-Technology professionals in and around the cities we have selected for the tour, and will help jump-start an immediate skill set for those planning to attend our 2002 International Web Services Edge East and West conferences later in the year."
Next Stop: Thursday, June 27, 2002, New York City
The first four cities of the Web Services Edge 2002 World Tour; Boston, Washington DC, New York and San Francisco were all sold-out, making today's stop in San Francisco the largest, four times in size since the introduction of this event last February.
SYS-CON Events announced today the next stop of the education tour as June 27, 2002 in New York City. There will be 12 new cities named before the end of this year, covering additional stops in North America and introducing several new cities in Europe, Asia and Australia.
