MONTVALE, NJ, August 21, 2002 -- SYS-CON Media (www.sys-con.com), headquartered in Montvale, New Jersey, responded to the letter dated August 15, 2002, signed by Java Pro publisher, Mr. Pat Cameron, and distributed to Java Developer's Journal's advertising partners.
"JDJ felt compelled to respond to Mr. Cameron's statements," said Robert Diamond, vice president at SYS-CON Media. "As JDJ has consistently focused on strengthening its position in the marketplace, our competitors increasingly focused on filing publicity complaints."
Java Developer's Journal has consistently exceeded its rate base and has never under-delivered. As of June 2002, and according to BPA, Java Developer's Journal delivered 50.2% higher circulation (90,115) than its rate base, 38% higher circulation than Java Pro (65,071), and significantly higher circulation than Java Pro in the past three years, (please see table below).
Mr. Cameron's reference to a BPA suspension confuses both Java Pro and Java Developer's Journal advertisers. In fact, the suspension was prompted by an error in our accounts payable department and had no relation to JDJ's impressive circulation history, quality, quantity, or undisputed leadership in the marketplace since its inception.
Below is a letter we received from Mr. Glenn J. Hansen, President and CEO of BPA International, regarding the suspension notice temporarily posted at the BPA Web site.
"July 31, 2002 Our Seventy-First Year
Mr. Fuat Kircaali President and Publisher SYS-CON Publications 135 Chestnut Ridge Road Montvale, NJ 07645
Dear Fuat:
In early July our accounting staff posted a membership "suspension" notice to our Web site for JAVA DEVELOPER'S JOURNAL, which was removed immediately after the subject was brought to BPA's attention. This suspension was an accounting matter with past due invoices and payment crossing in the mail.
The suspension was NOT related to an audit, the quality of the circulation, nor of the magazine and its personnel. JAVA DEVELOPER'S JOURNAL is a member in good standing.
Please feel free to share this letter with interested parties to clarify the quality and quantity of circulation were never in question.
Sincerely,
Glenn J. Hansen President and Chief Executive Officer BPA International / Business of Performing Audits"
