Free One-Day Web Services Tutorials by SYS-CON Education
The conference will present two Web Services one-day tutorials.
The first tutorial, entitled, "Architecting a J2EE Web Services Infrastructure," will be presented by distinguished Oracle faculty. With Web services adoption well underway, developers and architects are facing the next set of questions surrounding the delivery of real-world Web services built on evolving technologies and standards. The discussion points can seem extensive but they are surprisingly manageable once understood: interoperability, quality of service, back-end integration, development process, service delivery, and more. This one-day tutorial will help attendees understand the breadth to which Web services has permeated the typical IT infrastructure, and help provide a framework for better understanding what should be considered when building a J2EE Web services infrastructure.
The second tutorial, entitled, "Detecting and Preventing Errors in Web Services," will be presented by distinguished Parasoft faculty. This one-day tutorial demonstrates practices that improve Web service reliability and interoperability. The session discusses error prevention and detection, focusing on error quality control from the earliest phases of the development process. The session pinpoints areas that are common stumbling blocks, including the layers in which errors can surface, errors stemming from services being reused in unknown environments, security problems, and interoperability issues. You will be provided with an in-depth look at practices that help you engineer quality from the ground up. Specific techniques discussed include Design by Contract, defensive coding, coding standard enforcement, unit testing, module testing, functional testing, client testing, server testing, load testing, and interoperability testing. Each time a practice is introduced, the speaker will demonstrate how it can be applied to a sample Java-based Web service.
